Procedure for Decontamination Before Moving or Disposal of Lab Equipment

1.0 Purpose: Lab
To insure lab equipment is decontaminated of hazardous substances before moving or disposal.

2.0 Procedure:
To move or dispose of equipment that has been contaminated by biological, chemical, or radioactive substances.

2.1 Department will submit a Moving Request Form to Moving and Surplus Services at fax #721-2189.

2.2 Moving and Surplus Services faxes Moving Request to Environmental Health & Safety for Decontamination sign off.

2.3 Moving and Surplus services will move or dispose of equipment.

2.4 Surplus Equipment that is not reasonably clean will not be picked up by Moving and Surplus Services.
