Gretchen B. Caughman
Dean, School of Graduate Studies

As dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Dr. Gretchen B. Caughman is responsible for inquiry-based and post-professional graduate programs at the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Caughman received her doctorate in immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina and trained as a postdoctoral fellow in virology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

She has published extensively in the areas of herpes virology and biocompatibility as principal investigator and co-investigator of NIH, NCF, and ACS grants.

Dr. Caughman served for six years prior to this position as associate dean of the School of Graduate Studies and associate dean for Graduate Studies in the School of Medicine. She has been a faculty member of the Department of Oral Biology and Maxillofacial Pathology in the School of Dentistry and the School of Graduate Studies since 1985.
