Collexis FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t see my profile?

Faculty information for Research Profiles are provided to Collexis for quarterly updates. If you're new to MCG, your information should be included no later than three months after your start.  Another reason you don't see your profile could be because you are not listed in PubMed, as this is the only database currently searched by Collexis. The company does plan to add other national databases in the near future. If you've been at MCG longer three months and are cited in PubMed, please contact the administrative assistant in your department or section and/or the IT Service Desk to let them know you're not listed.

What if I see publications in my profile that aren’t mine or I don’t see publications that should be there?

Collexis uses a complex process to build high quality research profiles. The first part of the process is automated and set up to ensure precise assignment of papers to their authors. However, this very precise process errs on the side of not assigning some papers.

Hence, your profile may be incomplete. So Collexis has a second process of quality assurance by trained quality management professionals. However, this process (which is human in nature) can do the reverse - assigning a paper to you that does not belong. While this two-step approach is a best-in-class industry practice, it still is not perfect and can only be corrected with your help.

Every profile page contains a “Help us make your profile perfect” link with contact information for any additions or deletions from a list of authored publications. If you have papers missing in your profile, or you have papers which you would like to have removed, please send an email to: perfectprofiles@collexis.com

Where does other profile information come from?

MCG faculty are mapped to organizational units based upon their department (and section, if appropriate) of primary academic rank appointment. Faculty are also mapped to their Institutes and Academic Centers of memberships within the Research Profiles. This information, along with email addresses, office phone number, and photos, come from the PeopleSoft HRMS.

Notes:

Faculty photos that are on the Collexis profiles are linked to a photo store in the MyMCG portal which is updated nightly from PeopleSoft HRMS. If we don’t have a photo on file in portal for a particular faculty member, they won’t have a photo out on their profile. System-wide loss of profile photos could indicate an issue with Collexis getting to portal, either network or MyMCG related.
